spank rock - yoyoyoyoyo
no idea if thats enough yo's in the title, but hey. this is the new blossoming sound from baltimore. electro booty bass madness, on top of which saucy wordplay lets rip. i must be old, but the constant declarations of pumpin' pussy/ass/tits/ho's etc gets tiresome, which is a real shame, as the production is at times, inspired. recent single 'rick rubin' stands out from the hormonally charged partners.
of course, the music in the correct setting is going to sound totally amazing, the sci-fi freakiness of 'backyard betty' has to be done on the headphones for maximum effect, all those jittering electro tweaks and stereo bass booms will do damage. it's just that for all the incredible production, guess what the words are all about ? all of which gives the impression that the album is the creation of some very singular minded folks, who either need to get some serious action now, or a new dictionary.
i have hopes that any future release by this crew could be a killer, as despite my grumpiness re the content, there is a real skill in the ultra modern flow. the screwed up factor (pun alert!) buried within the clipped sampled string stab of 'what it look like' of particular note.
oh, the cover artwork is superb.
