spank rock - rick rubin

part of the new hustlin'n-bustlin' scene that has been dubbed 'baltimore', this debut release for big dada is a mad scattershot slice of hip hop beats forced through an old battered food processor blending  80's electro and modern electronic noise making machines are forced into the final result.

so, calling the track, 'rick rubin' is wayyyyy off the mark as this sounds like nothing he has ever produced. except for maybe the big phat bass boom drum beats ? the clash of twisted sonics, sped up, slowed down vocals, dancehall beats, and all manner of electronically stimulated excess, the track is sure to raise a few eyebrows and get a few hipsters grooving, but for me the package is made all the more sweeter by the far more straightforward, totally genuine old school minimal electro of the xxxchange electro remix with some rather shiver inducing warp styled bleep melodies, that could invoke mass outbreak of body popping like we haven't seen since the early 80's.

glorious.
