new rhodes - you've given me something i cant give back
one of bristols finest pop group (hello bronze age fox!), return with their second single for moshi moshi. as before the single comes brilliantly packaged in a sleeve designed by the band themselves. the three songs (one being a remix!) move away, slightly, from the strokes styles of their debut. but the song is classic indie pop. with a hook that kicks in and doesn't let go. simple but effective guitars strum like a wedding present classic, with uptempo drums hiding the old school indie 'oh woe is me' lovelorn lyrics - all in all i'm hooked.
there are no concessions to any of the post punk styles that dominate 2005, nor any faux cool-ness. instead this is just classic guitar pop music, and for once, i have no problem at all in declaring my total love for this stuff.
if you haven't grabbed this by now, then you will have trouble finding it as i believe it to have been limited to 2000 copies - making the single jump into the charts at 33 for the midweeks. so jumop over p onto ebay if your heart needs a fix - cos its worth it.
