working for a nuclear free city
having had an ever increasing pile of all manner
of noises and tunes i was somewhat aghast at the lack of albums i could get really
excited about.
yes i like/enjoy a lot of the stuff, but there is
a chunk that i frankly boggle at the fact they get a release. no names.
however, one album has lifted its beautifully
designed cover out of the excess, to reveal itself to me as my album of the
moment.
this album is one that i can totally totally
love.
and of course it would be on one of ireallylovemusics’
fave labels : melodic.
having recently released the outputmessage
album that i loved, and the enjoyable the isles, which is way too
similar to a band i never really liked, i am buzzed that their next album by
the awkwardly named, working for a nuclear free city is
exactly the type of album that ireallylovemusic has
been wanting more of. consisting of 4 lads from cheshire they have put
together a 14 track, 41 minute album that just gets it right.
ok, the album may be the carefully calculated sum
of many bands that i love (doves, stone roses, unkle, regular fries), but
having had a glut of bands pretending to be in the garage, or leftovers from
britpop with a spare synth here and there, it’s wonderful to hear a band
give it some with funky bass lines, epic sonic ambience, layers of guitars,
and lazy saturday night out vocals.
updated baggy beats vs brian eno with plenty of
hands in the air euphoria never sounded so right.
