this is fantastic stuff. really really good.

so for once, it's great to hear an album that has no indie dance crossover production touches, no skinny ties, no twisted haircuts, no obvious desire to do anything but make wonderful music. instead, this debut album proper by 22 year old (22!) bernard from virginia, will be like manna from heaven, for those of you that recall the glory years of the original ambient techno explosion in the late 80's, early 90's. there is the same depth and warmth in the sonics (i suspect the  pro-tools application was nowhere to be seen during the recording of these sounds - there is genuine statik/clicks and distortion in places - and i for one am not complaining), the same love for rich ambience and the same desire to make the beats and melodies interesting. in fact, the opening of this album sent genuine shivers up my spine such was the ghostly connections to certain past masters of the art.

old school ambient techno perfection that proves that the love of kraftwerk, aphex twin, old school detroit techno, and orbital lives on in this myspace dominated world. as is the way, track names and a track by track break down is pretty useless, but lets just say that the sheer gorgeousness of 'glintz' with its delicately manic drums and crystal clear arpeggios should be enough to make you stump up the necessaries, if not then you need to have a word with your inner being.

as i said, fantastic.
