virga - eidos

different for unique records, this comprises of heavy electronic beats, processed basslines.

intense mood music. a soundtrack to a disturbing film.

opener 'antarctique' is an excellent mood creator, headphones, as per advised on the cover are essentialthere is a lot in the detail of the sonics. a great start.

'stakhanov' has a heavy beat . with the drums sounding far more real .. giving a real band feel, a dark triphop meets john carpenter. intense. despite the 1940's big band sample buried in the mix. excellent.

'alter.go' .. more of a dance groove going on .. industrial acid house techno. scary. doom laden. if i was still angst ridden 18 year old this would be my chosen soundtrack.

where the album unfortunately falls down are the overlong ambient epics ('steinbock,'marneffe'), the 2 tracks are 25 mins in total and dont sit well in the albums flow. coming on like a cross between the orb and klf but without the humour or melodic passages. cars pass, birds twitter, general real world noises interact with strange elctronic pulses, but for me these drift on to long and dont engage the listener enough to justify the lengths.

next up is 'enemia' a screeching electro noisefest .. return of the big drum beats, and doom laden chord structures. pounding .. bassthrobs. very yummy, as is 'transpose' incorporating industrial noise loops. front 242/skinny puppy immediately spring to mins, and to add to the old school industrial throwback there are more vocal samples added to a pounding techno beat. intimidating.

some very interesting noises and sound collages make this quite special though the listener will need to dig out some light relief songs in order to recover ..
