robot dog - ep
4 tracks.
genre : atmospheric drum and bass.
mixing real instruments with electronica to stunning effect.
the sleeve (or website) give absolutely no details as to the creators of this, all adding to the overall mystery of something that really took me by surprise.
i cant profess to be a big follower of the d-n-b scene as it has never really appealed but this is excellent.
dark/broody yet still highly enjoyable, headphone listening is seriosuly recommended for those requiring a real headf*ck, as the swooping/gushing synths and breakbeats really spin you all over.
with an epic guitar part (could be keyboard .. sounds mad/distorted !) that holds the second track 'fractured' together far better than one would expect, making the track completely addictive.
overall the ep invokes the same kind of climatic tension as 'dead cities' by future sound of london, and considering the budget on this release will be a fraction of fsol is a remarkable acheivement.
highly recommended.
