the silent league - goliath/cant get it out my head
2 track limited 7" that deserves major radio 2 exposure. and that is not a slur. being a highlight of the album 'the orchestra, sadly, has refused', this is a gorgeous bittersweet late night orchestrated melodrama encapsulated in just over 3 minutes, with lyrics yearning for a more innocent day when radios were the centrepiece of family entertainment as opposed to today's broken down fractured world of film/music/videogames.
who needs flaming lips now?
flip the record for a cover version. appropriately of an old elo classic. tis as sublime and lush as you would expect from someone who helped craft the sound of mercury rev's recent masterpieces, and is totally worthy of your hard earned, especailly as anyone who has seen the band perform this stuff live recently (keane are keen on having them follow them about) will no doubt be wanting to get their hands on this bands output.
in a word that is often used but rarely emphasised: gorgeous.
