wire - pink flag, chairs missing, 154
the classic albums all get full fat remastering, over seen by the band themselves to make sure that the end results are worthy. there are no extras, no remixes, no out takes, no dvd. just the stripped down experimental pop music that has thrilled and bemused all those that have heard them ever since their original releases back in the late 70's, all left in its truest pure form. exactly as it should be.
such is the quality on offer, each of these albums sound as fresh and dynamic as if recorded a mere few weeks ago. no time stamped production involved. over the course of these albums are some genre defining classics. the stuff that should appear in any respectable list when people try to summarise the post punk era. sharp focussed guitars (am i still allowed to use the work angular in 2006?), bass lines from the deepest vaults of sound, clipped atmospherics and some of the strangest forms of modern pop music to have backing via the renowned prog based label of the day, harvest.
if you have never experienced the wire way with short-n-sharp infused guitar pop (first album - 21 tracks - 35 minutes !), or with more drawn out experimental grooves of '154', to the perfect pop finale of 'chairs missing' with the proper pop of 'i am the fly', a track that still sends shivers up my spine when that massive echo drum/loop starts up, then i can i please recommend you revise your wish lists immediately.
