ultrasound : everything picture
a huge epic.. well almost. the so called 'limited edition double cd ' is still everywhere in the shops both new and used, hyped by the trendy press before the much delayed release meant expectations were high for this. having heard little i tried a couple of tracks in the shop and was not impressed, but later decided to dive in. and repeated listening pays dividends, there are some amazing full on indie rock/glam classics (fame thing/stay young) that is, once you get used to the singers voice. passionate to the extreme, some songs are simple to the point songs where others try to go all experimental, the worst is the last track - first 4 mins are great then it just meanders into sonic youth/mbv attempts which fail, so this double cd should have been edited down to a single disc easily and would have been great, as it is its a an interesting ambitious release which is well worth a few quid.
