the dualers - don't go/taller than you are
seems that wherever you turn there is talk of a ska revivial. first there was the indie crossover action by last years possibles the dead 60s, then the streets and pop princess in waiting lily allen both giving props to the masters of the last revival, the specials, but currently nothing really touches the mark with quite so much love and respect for the origins as this 2 tracker, no concessions to the modern world, no punk crossover action, no grimey styled beats - just pure unadulterated rocksteady perfection.
apparently, the band are well known on the busking circuit, and seems to be wowing all manner of folks with their harmony rich, easy on the ear ska-pop, where the old school 2-tone shoutouts, vocal rhythmic tricks are evident amongst the rich horns and soulful vocals. both of these songs (lifted from forthcoming album 'the melting pot'), are uptempo, joyful sunshine based pop music that would have a sunday afternoon at any festival in total skanking rapture.
let's just hope that the band get the attention and chance to go all the way, as nothing would please me more to have this joyful innocent music riding high once again.
check the bands website for more details on their road to fame and fortune as they busk in your high street as part of the promotion for this fine singles release.
