swervedriver : mezcal head, ejector seat reservation,99th dream

lumped in with the shoegazing masses, this band transcended the limitations of the scene by having great songs as well as great sonic effects. mezcal head has some seriously bass driven songs with guitar lines that lift the listener, hear duel after a couple of beers .. its a wonderful experience .. a great revitalising lp. ejector seat reservation was the calm after the storm, much more introspective/mellow, but the songs are superior in every way, every song is a classic. the lp is a contender for lost classic in mojo magazine in the next 5 years .. its just too good to be ignored. especially a song as gorgeous as 'last day on earth'

as with a lot of good bands, the record labels dont know how to promote them in the current scene so they get lost amongst the malaise, hello that petrol emotion, compulsion, age of chance, the family cat, this is especially true for the swervies .. dropped by creation amongst rumours of being signed to a major us label, with a recorded lp in the bag .. eventually the band released the lp on their own label, while not as consistent as last two lp's this is a strong lp, the effects/wall of guitars are still there but the band let their aspirations for classic rock show through more - superb
