rolling stones : let it bleed, exile on main street, sticky fingers goats head soup

if, like me, you grew up in the late 70's early 80's you may have the opinion of the stones as i did, tacky dress sense, overrated pop band who spent more time in the tabloids with dumb blonds and terrible cover versions with othe 70's heroes.. well for these reasons i avoided all contact with stones product, but slowly i noticed that they were being mentioned as influencing many current sounds - especially primal scream/black crowes, so the negativity disappeared and i got 'let it bleed' as always quoted as one of their best. well, it is. absolutely amazing 40 mins of quality rock-n-blues with some wonderful tracks, let it bleed, gimme shelter, you cant always get what you want etc etc etc .. every track a stunner, for the real deal on rock-n-roll history this is a great starter for 10. next came their epic exile, more of the same with more humour (ie jokey tracks - but they are great !) more r-n-b infused - another classic, essential as is sticky fingers. this one is more focused and doesn't drift off as much as exile does, yet again some stunners - in fact every track ! goats head soup is not as highly regards .. but i have to say it beats most of the competition hands down for that full on 70's rock sound.

in summary - all of these a great saturday night rock-n-roll discs .. surprised me ! it pays to re-evaluate sometimes ...
