regular fries - accept the signal

hmm where to start. recently I have become disassociated the new 'rock' bands as I find them all to be un-interesting. this rule is smashed apart by this lot. a media hype band that actually is well worth it. when released this lp got luke warm reviews, but the way it was described made me very interested. the range of influences are far and wide and appeal to my sense of eclectism (??).pink floyd meets the orb meets peak-period stone roses meet on-u meets primal scream meets hip-hop beats, the list goes on. I love this record, record it to tape and blast in your car when steaming along the countrys motorways - you will arrive at your destination refreshed and invigorated. the only downside is that do play up the weed influence a bit too much, but I guess that never did lee 'scratch' any disservice ! ;-) I'm eagerly awaiting second lp, which is very very rare these days …

new additions ..

eclipse ep

own record company (soft recordings) first release see the fries hitting their stride. opening track is a gorgeous summer ambient/ibizia anthem, for me, the cotswolds will have to do ! the rest of the new tracks see more of the experimentation with the sound. next 'loosen your mind (triple x)' is very sublime and sounds exactly like you'd expect a track with that title to sound, then theres 'internal flight' which uses a wonderful snoop/charlie brown jazz piano motif that just adds to the positive vibes (no record company dropped moroseness here !). the last track is a remix special - brainticket (4 tet remix), as i've never heard the original i cant comment on comparison, what i can say is that this is a mad track - like some bastard offspring of the bass experiments of bill laswells project - industrial funk .. stunning. recent news on the bands site advises that they are working with new kingdom ..

the story of the fries aint over by a long shot - and hurrah for that ...
