pet - player one ready

french pop music. air. electronics. guitars. elo. disco glitter balls.

mix all the above ingredients up and add an element of t-rex style glam-ness and you hit upon the formula that pet have established over this fun pop album.

tis lightweight and pleasant, which makes for a refreshing change in these intense times.

when the overloaded spiritualised style instrumental 'superpet' kicks in with the vocal chorus you just cant help but grin like a cheshire cat. though, naming track 4 'intro theme' is just weird man, but hey, the dirty electro bass line and sweeping synths clashing (ho ho) with the disco wha wha groove is makes these 2 tracks stand out and get any themed party funking excellent.

the fact that the next track 'time to leave' name checks jethro tull is just too much of a genre melt to contemplate, but, as this is a quality glam pop song where chorus's fly high and real band sounds soar these baffling reference points are quickly forgotten.

there are some fine instrumentals throughout the album, but, for me, the finest thing is the teenage fanclub meets t-rex sunshine harmonies of 'sleepless' (hmm a concept album .. 2 tracks refer to the state of sleep - "snooze" and "sleepless", are the guys trying to tell us something ?) is the sugary addictive icing on the cake. quite simply, a perfect pop song. and its not alone as are several others on the album.

not a lot else to say about the album other than by the third listen i really found myself enjoying the mix of old school analogue synths and modern electro pop styles.

get ready for some heavy petting.
