clean - more or less the truth

a new band. from switzerland who have relocated to bristol.

from the first few listens clean are a traditional indie rock sounding setup with extra sounds from the bands resident dj.

the songs are catchy and easily accessible, with the band steering well clear of the current style of rock band plus dj styles and instead revisit gloriously innocent baggy era beats and organic sounds. opening track 'stronger man' starts things with a strange trumpet/piano fanfare with a twisted element .. but quickly settles down into a solid stomper - very impressive. several tracks have interesting instrumentation/sampledelic touches, even acid synths make an interesting appearance in 'room 16' just prior to a very 70's sounding guitar solo - excellent.

one drawback is the vocals - they aren't very strong or original, but this never stopped many a baggy band from giving it their all and providing me with hours of fun and tunes in the early 90's - at times the melodies are very insistent to the degree that one track threw me back to the glory days of dodgy/lightening seeds/cast.

all in all a very enjoyable release and worthy of many repeated listens,

damn these pesky europeans .. cleaning up the indie/rock/pop market (pun intended)
