new rhodes - i wish i was you

new signing to moshi moshi following the recent hot chip release. hailing from bristol this gang provide classic indie guitar pop at its late 80's best. the opening features a vocal declaration of having had enough before the beautifully layered guitars are let loose and ending up at the catchiest singalong chorus i have heard in a long long time. the sheer simplicity in the guitars and heart warming melody just fills you with euphoria and general bonhomie like manchesters' james used to when on form. yes, the style could be labelled as  generic and will definitely remind many of the best bits of the wedding present (ie the guitars !) and many others, but damn i love it. a lot.

the b-side is a so called demo of 'she said no' .. it's billed as a demo, but its a full a song as the proper track. the urgent stacatto guitars and quirky beats will attract strokes like comparisons .. but i would rather spin this any day as opposed to the hyped up showroom dummies. swoon some to the extreme with its 'i'm all right now' vocal refrain combines with the stabbing guitar line @ 3 and half minutes

this is an excellent  single.

looking forward to hearing more.
