matt harding - thinking in fours ep
more acoustic guitar sweetness and subtle beatbox effects from the quiet man that is matt harding.
2 tracks from the criminally missed album 'commitment' and a few extra nice pieces.
of these new pieces i love 'red' the most. its spacious acoustics, the dubbed up harmonica type sound, makes for a fascinating instrumental 2.5 minutes. 'drawing lines' continues in the same style as the matts first album - funky drum machine loops, politely vibed up electric guitars, and a simple easy to digest whispered vocal line, which then gets distorted in the last part of the song.
possibly the most aggressive thing matt has ever committed to tape ?
'sharp keys' doesn't hold it together too well, fast lo-fi beats and weird effects clash for attention stretching the possibilities of 4 track recording techniques - until we get to the introduction of guitars towards the end when a meldoy is squezzed out.
interesting stuff, but not essential
