junkboy - the dynamics of modern communication (moshicd3)
held back on this
for a couple of weeks - i have revisited this now several times,
and each time i get lost in it.
the opening tweets and noises is misleading - this is not a warp
electronic release, most tracks are stripped down real
instrumental passages of sublime music.
the band are supposedly in the krautrock/postrock scene with
subtle jokes in the song titles.. well i know nothing of all that
stuff. what i do know is that this is lovely. and awful word i
know .. but thats what this is - lovely.
veering away from overproduced studio ambience this is raw sounding in parts , ie basic live sounding production leaving in hiss/background noises. the band use various horn elements, mainly trumpet, adding a new dimension to the chill out genre, without ever getting too jazz.
highlight so far
has to be ikea - almost a pop track which is excellent for those
stressful days at the office, along with several other highlights
(friends(part1), francoise says) this stuff can soothe the soul
and calm those frayed nerves - but do not think that this makes
for a boring easy listening disc, each track has twists and turns
sucking the listener in further to their ether world...
lovely.
moshi moshi are becoming a very interesting label.
