bloc party - banquet/staying fat (moshi10cd)
a one off single for moshi moshi from this future big name act, prior to them disappearing into a studio this summer and not being seen again until 2005 with their album.
so grab this to see what all the london media fuss is about.
fed up with your franz ferdinand? never really got the funk from radio 4? not had the time or money to discover devo/wire/gang of four? then hey .. just nip on down to your local record shop and grab this 2 tracker of spiky guitars, urgent grooves, shout-along vocals, sometimes recalling the cure's robert smith style.
the lead track here has the same instant appeal as the aforementioned franz ferdinand radio friendly pop hits .. but hopefully without the overexposure annoyance that i have found with the f-f songs. absolutely excellent - and the fact that this could become the biggest record for the wonderful moshi moshi is just the perfect icing on the cake as this has been done without any major label hype or budget. just a love for the music, an underground vibe, and a swollen fanbase with recent glowing press. all of which has meant that this record has grazed the outer regions of the charts. now does life get better than that.
bring it on.
