j xaverre - saturday

whoa. things are moving fast for pete gofton aka j xaverre. this is the second single to be lifted from the forthcoming 'these acid stars' lp. some might say (ie me !) that the three tracks on offer are like a greatest hits of j-x's moshi moshi days as they have all been released previously.

but, rest assured pete has revisited and buffed up the originals and added yet more aural sparkle to these gorgeous songs. lead track 'saturday' has been given the full radio treatment a la previous single 'great all great', and been touched up once more by david trumfio (wilco, my morning jacket).

hopefully the radio selectors realise the wonders on display.

quite simply 'saturday' is a supreme 3 minute guitar pop song that lifts the heart, recalling all the well known pop experimentalists like flaming lips/mercury rev/beta band etc but somehow having a unique attraction all of its own. lovely. same goes for the b-sides (in the good old days when releases had b-sides ..) 'strange thing' and 'making the most of a beautiful day', though these are subtley different from their original versions as opposed to the full on treatment they are still worthy of a revisit. especially if memphis industries have picked up more j-x listeners then they will get a chance to hear these excellent songs.

oh, and from the info i have i believe that there are some rather special remixes on the 12" vinyl offering by label mates blue states and man of the moment manitoba.

and, last but not least .. there is an official website due sometime soon. link in its usual place below.
