new signing to the ever wonderful memphis industries, who are this time going back to releasing warm heartfelt acoustic based songs as opposed to the recent party grooves of the world dominating go! team. the band hails from the north east and is comprised of david and peter brewis along with andrew moore, who have been associated with the various incarnations of futureheads and maximo park, as well as being virtual neighbours and musical backing support to the live outings by j xaverre.
the 3 songs (shorter shorter, trying to sit down, breakfast) are lovely, sweet and melody strong
.. and far far too short, naturally.
with acoustic instrumentation (piano, acoustic guitars, subtle strings) being the core and vocals recalling the harmonies of the beta bands glory days, combined with melancholy of an autumnal sunday. basically just really lovely music that is miles away from the current demands of anything post-punk. there is a chance this band could fill fields with people smiling this summer.
