a superb revisitation ep. with the big crowd puller being ninjatunes star amon tobin who provides the off the wall messed up electrofunk basslines and twisted guitar parts to baikonours ambience, if this track brings the ninja masses onboard to the melodic vibe then i'd say thats a result. this track forms and storms the speakers and deserves exposure in all the right places that can handle the bassbooms.
next tracks are label mates gavouna and topo gigio supplementing the melodic electro enhanced warmth. synths pulsate pleasantly and beats quietly drive the tracks along, nice stuff. with the topo mix being particularly airy and uplifting giving the listener strange inner (e)motions when the beats kicks in @ 1.5 mins.
the last track though is the odd one out. being a complete old school instrumetal version. no computers were used, the track sounds like a school band with access to all sorts of real musical oddities (mellotrons/organs/harpsichord etc) who on a end of term friday have decided to have a go at a krautrock groove and by chance they have discovered the inner workings of the original baikonour melody. i realise its probably all well crafted studio samples, but, it sounds so sweet and innocent when the oribital type arpeggios kick in, the effect is quite lovely.
overall, another fine addition to the melodic stable.
