the glimmers - remixed, re-edited and ph#cked up

having been the masterminds behind 4 cd mix albums for eskimo records, the belgian duo, david and mo, known as the glimmers now put their own name on the front cover of this latest mix. guess they must be proud of this one, and damn right too.

the duo are bound to attract to the alter ego of soulwax, '2 many dj's' due to their origins, however this isn't another bootleg type of affair. instead it's a more straightforward mixed up genre clash of 80's electro beats, pumped up glam rock, prince-esque funk, old school hip-hop, and everything in between. obviously having played out to the select parties of the rich and famous over the last few years the lads have discovered what makes a party groove and have decided to sprinkle this album with a varied pace and style throughout the hour. subsequently the track selection is all over the place from uncool queen and billy idol riffs to the very up to date disco punk funk of glimmers own production by dirty minds. by adding in these well known classics (even if they are messed up) amongst the unknowns the album has a much more broad based appeal than many dance based mixes, and it becomes very obvious that the glimmers are all about having fun. as that is exactly what this album is, a lot of fun.

after all where else are you going to hear jungle brothers being dropped into a severed heads loop, or the rockabilly weirdness of alan vega flowing into a rare !!! b-side.

so, go out and find this and make the christmas office party soundtrack a lot more interesting, the bosses will never notice, tell'em it's the latest robbie williams experiment.
