dimitri from paris and dj muro - super disco friends

take 2 shit hot dj's who love nothing more than to crate dig and get a party moving, give them a mission to fill 2 cds to the max with old school hip hop, lost disco gems, a touch of soul and a slab-o-funk, then sit back and wait.

well, here's the result. and boy are we lucky.

dimitri has obviously got bored with playing his selections to the playboy mansion bunnies and reverted back to the underground with this mix, as he alongside his japanese find, gets a cd each to show off their exclusive edits, revised cutup and all manner of turntable mixing magic, on this debut release on dimitris own new label, 'headphone heroes'.

if you have ever enjoyed the 60's soul-r-n-b mixtapes by dj shadow/cut chemist (brainfreeze and product placement), then you are going to love this disco-fied brother. the emphasis is not on the turntable skills (these are not scratch mixes), but sheer quality track selection. as is the way, none of these 33 tracks is familiar me, but a few names are, edwin starr (whos 'i just wanna do my thing' is worthy of the entrance fee alone), archie bell, love bug starski, but its safe to say that i loved the lot, despite not being a big fan of the discos thing the sheer uptempo happy groove cannot help but put a synchronised jump in your step and a diamond encrusted smile on your face,

i would like to believe that a glitterball is not essential to enjoy these mixes to the max, but the record could indeed make you invest in one for your living room, i know i involuntarily checked the argos catalogue for one before i came to my senses while the album filled my headphones recently.

glorious.
