the soulsavers soundsystem - smoking and drinking on a tuesday night
hardly stopping for food, rich from soulsavers has created yet another mixtape of superior quality music.
as with the 'fear and loathing ..' series the main basis for this 70 min mix is old soul/r-n-b nuggets that the masses missed the first (second and third) time round. but, now that the advertising execs have realised just how vital this music still sounds in these homogenous times these tracks once unearthed could indeed find their way to full on acceptance, perfect example - california soul by marlena shaw .. david holmes added this to his sets way back in 97 and becomes the foundation for a whole advertising campaign in 2003 .. i call that a result. and who is to say that the same wont happen for several of these wild-n-wonderful selections on offer.
the tracks are sequenced with love and attention so that dj skilzz do not detract from the songs on offer, as before i have no idea who sings these songs, i dont have that desire of knowledge. i have decided to put my trust in the dj indeed. this time though, rich has delved into swinging big band soul/jazz numbers, full on soul regeneration to the max. bet you dont feel this good after an hour of radio one do you ?
once again this is a worthy addition to anyone interested in hearing a set of fine tracks of all styles and grooves, and far easier than having to dig in the crates and find this stuff for yourselves.
