having won a competition @ ninjatune for the best mix going in 2003 i tracked down the robot responsible and decided to try out his style.
and boy am i glad i did so.
57 tracks are listed as cut up in the mix over the 75 minutes, that doesn't include the extra vocal snippets, the masterful scratching, and the sheer excellence of track selection. put together over a period of more than 12 months the quality of this is breathtaking at times, the fundamental basis of the beat is bound to be party atmosphere hip hop, old school standards such as grandmaster flash, run dmc, newcleus, jonzun crew are placed in prime positions but its when these are cut into stuff as funked up as talking heads classic 'once in a lifetime', chuck berry's maybellene, led zeppelin, air, beck that you know that roboticus is not holding back on the genre clash making for a wild sonic journey none more so on the freaky squarepusher blend with the beatles, wow.
obviously being a solid steel protégé the mix comes with the welcome extras and these have all been blended in throughout the providing a running commentary on the whole aspect of dj culture with various snippets from old tv programs and stereo demonstration records, giving away various trade secrets, and not to mention the odd chuckle inducing moment.
