malcolm mclaren - paris, buffalo gals

i like malcolm. have done since i heard the original buffalo girls - the lp from which it came (duck rock) was a classic and turned many a pop fan to the world of hip-hop. so several years later we get 'paris' a homage to coffee bar jazz, this is a 'nniicce' disc and the extra 'ambient' disc is very welcome, but mislabled as it aint ambient in the slightest .. more like yello (no bad thing). the new remix collaboration 'buffalo gals' takes the track and stretched it out in various guises for over an hour .. updating the concept with interviews/dialogue with hip-hop pioneers like KRS One and Africa Bambatta- its an interesting disc as it plays more like a documentary about hip-hop, but as a full album can get a bit boring in parts and the new versions don’t add anything to the original which is still the best track on this collection.
