justice - waters of nazareth

having twiddled sonics for various folks over the last 2 years, including the fantastic 'justice vs simian' track that made a recent dj hell sanctioned electro clash compilation totally worthwhile, comes the debut ep from this Parisian duo (xavier de rosnay (23) and gaspard auge (26) as indicated in the release notes fact fans) with such religious connotations, both in the projects moniker and track titles, you would be right to be concerned that listeners may at any time be summoned to answer for all their sins. thankfully i was able to make it through these three daft punk sanctioned tracks in one piece (the ep is released on da'punks managers new 'ed banger' record label)

musically, the duo head for their banks of synths and old battered-n-bruised drum machines (either real or hard disk based) and let rip. thin analogue waves do their early electro experiments during 'let their be light' amidst very thin beats before all manner of hardcore electronic body music is let loose for the eps closer, 'carpates' proving that the recent return of nitzer ebb is rather well timed.

as much as i love the nu-electro noise that fills the playlists, i have to admit that the production is very minimal, with virtually no warmth allowed at all amongst the clashing filtered white noise. maybe this is as required, or maybe they just forgot to add some bass, i don't know. but as the guys remixes are storming, i can only assume that justice have yet to show us what they are really capable of.
