idc - top 20

a complete and utterly mess of noise, frenetic dance beats and tacky pop all spliced and diced together to make a hybrid genre that has been tagged as b*stard pop, or bootlegs.

whatever you call it just grab some of the action before the lawyers shut this party down. idc has decided to take well known tracks and forging new extras to the mix, whether this is hard dance beats, fun samples or cool sleazy electro or whatever happens to be lying around in the studio at the time.

nothing is safe.

this showcase compilation will not be available in the shops for obvious reasons. this is just a promo tool for the talents that idc has. to hear more then you will have to track down idc club dates or radio shows on xfm which have rotated idc creations heavily recently. and, i can see why.

this is what pop music can be all about.

fun, sex, noise, chaos, pop music doesn't all have to be cleancut and pure. there are several standout tracks .. some of which have broken out from the underground and become sought after remixes.idc has a knack for taking a section that you know from the radio and making it sound completely fresh. i normally hate justin timberflakes overly dramtic vocals styles, but add his vocals to a ladytron/felix da housecat electro epic and suddenly i feel like i want the whole timerflake album. for old schoolers like me the real highlight has to be strapping the overhyped audiobullies to blurs ibeefa larger lout beast 'girls and boys' is just too much to be heard when sitting down in from of a computer, this requires motion/action/beer to be enjoyed to the max. quality.

i will concede that there are parts that vere close to the whole jive bunny aspect that was soooo uncool back in the 80's, but i suspect that not many of the current listeners to this will recall that abomination of studio trickery. where this all differs though, is the quality of track selection and beats .. but it does get close at times (eg the punk mash .. sex pistols/johnathan ritchman gets a little to close), and other tracks are not really my type of thing .. westbam never impressed in original form, and i suffered overexposure to that effing blueboy track 'remember meeeee' damn. yes i do. now leave me alone. but these moments are few and the enjoyment quota is far to high to get upset. i mean anyone who slaps primal scream against rolling stones is very aware of primal screams historical desires to evolve into the rolling stones, an obvious pairing up, but tis done with such style and class that it works a treat.

to get an earful of the idc soundscapes then visit the website, where the best examples are readily available as downloads. the previously mentioned 'justins 17 shower scene', 'da sweet funk' (eurythmics and daft punk), 'spread your machine' - brmc meets goldfrapp - which straps stomping electro bass ontop of the brmc guitars .. the band should hear this and learn some new sonic tricks for their next lp.

as a showcase of what new home studio toys can do though idc has definitely carved himself a little slice of pop history.

sheer class, and new track 'heartbreaker music' melds madonna's music with bowie and the klf into a mad guitar driven stomper (by the glitterati apparently who are new band on poptones) should be soundtrack to many office parties this xmas. the fact that it be being spun wont is their loss. make sure you get this downloaded and ripped to the max. the word needs to be spread.

as an extra idc have also stepped into the original material domain where the sonic tricks are put to full effect. i suspect that this is all part of the idc masterplan. if the semi-official bootleg of 50cent and triple8 is anything to go by then it is only a matter of time that we will be seeing the idc imprint all over future pop productions. personally i cant wait.

top subversive pop sonic collision entertainment, simple as that.
