gorillaz - feel good inc.

yes they are back. and for anyone who has not yet heard the new single then please let me be the first to tell you .. it's ace. though i cannot for one moment believe there is anyone. ipod adverts, radio saturation, internet floods etc. the video is all over the place and quite rightly so. its gorgeous and funny.

so, without further ado .. i will crack on with the 'exclusive' b-sides that are on offer across the various formats :

normal cd : due to current restrictions with singles the gang are no longer allowed to fill their cd singles with all the goodies like they used to in the first phase. so instead we get the normal version and a b-side, just like the good old days. and the track 'spitting out the demons'. tis a dubbed up, ska based rhythm, with damon (ahem - 2D) chanting the title phrase over and over, showing that the spacemonkeys project of the first album was a labour of love and budget. as its a fine bass groove.

dvd : the format of choice supposedly. personally i don't get it .. chuck the excellent video on disc, and then add a couple of audio extras .. aha .. but subtly they have sorted a video out for 'spitting out the demons' .. well ok, that's pushing it. we get to see the windmill from the video in a scary red ambient, and a pretty nasty storm brewing with the odd flash of lightening. adding to the overall dark mood of the track, which is followed by the dvd exclusive featuring the bees (thus explaining the reason for kong studios walls being plastered with posters for the bees !), unfortunately for this track the visuals are somewhat skinny .. a spectrograph image of the  the music which changes colour from time to time, meaning that you have to listen to the music. which is more of the dubbed up pleasantness and little else - a nice groove and all that but certainly not one for the party scene.

oh, and there is another shoved on the b-side proper of the picture disc - '68 state', but picture discs aren't really meant to be played .. are they ?

i await the arrival of g-sides part 2 compilation before i get a chance to hear that track.

so all in all .. i really like these b-sides, as the dubby pop that gorillaz dropped into the fun last time were actually my favourite part of it all (i mean dracula is a classic b-side if ever ..)

.. just a shame i have to use different machines and devices to hear the bloody things.

next stop - the album !
