akira the don - aaa ep

akira's second ep. featuring 3 tracks crafted on the lads own home studio setup with his internet cracked software and extra low-tech munchkins prior to the full onslaught of his interscope budget. using hip hop as the blueprint for his sound adam actually expands upon the genres usual definitions and strays way off the oft beaten course in his lyrics and subtle sonics. opening track 'patrick' being the low down of adam and his mate (patrick) declaring teenage war on redditch and having a party-n-riot en route prior to the eventual breakdown in the buddy-buddy relationship, all set to a melody line lifted from one of the worst records to have graced the top 40 in the 80's, thankfully though, my abject hatred of all things marillion do not sway my love for this record. this is then followed by the pulsating casio moves of  'living in the future', where Adam declares his love on all things technology and modern like. he enjoys the internet and wants us all to rejoice in his beat ridden fun, a jaunty little ditty, continuing on from the first ep's 'the drinking song' style whereby 2 listens and you'll be spinning this grinning groove in your head all day. oh, and there is the zef made video on the website of course. this joyous 3 minutes is then followed by the much darker and somewhat unsettling 'cut you in the face', describing untypical honest rejected male emotions, the track can be interpreted as a slashers revenge anthem for anyone hurt by love and dreamt of painful retribution, but you just know that this is adam playing with your mind. the man is a pussycat. he loves all. and this is just his way in showing us he cares. i think.

for those that like to know exactly what the man is rapping on about, he has kindly supplied the lyrics. result.
