KISSPOWER
- 7 minutes of cut-n-paste from 1986
conception of a classic as described by Geoff T
"Kisspower...that track is basically unfinished. We ran out of time at FON.
I'd personally wished ,later, that we'd cut the sections up a little
more...but on reflection, this was for us, a bit of a journey into the
unknown. OK, there was 'Grandmaster Flash on the Wheels of steel' but we
actually never considered that, or any similar tracks as precedents.
Essentially, the track came about because we had a day or two of FON-time
owed to us at the end of the 'Pavement' session, and we felt like bustin'
loose a bit, and came up with the idea of creating a track that encapsulated
a lot of influences, and some stuff that wasn't, but just sounded good,
(Born in the USA springs to mind!) So Lenny Bruce is in there (which was
later ripped-off in UK Hiphop track by, I think, Richey Rich), RunDMC,
Supremes, Troublefunk, Westside Story, Janet Jackson ( we all liked
Jam&Lewis), Prince, LLcoolJ, MC5,and others that I can't recall, as I
haven't played the track in a while. I liked to have gotten more stuff in
there, but...The scratching would have been sampled, as we hadn't met Noel
at that point."
