loose cannon - altercation

new 7" single from the increasingly impressive akoustic anarkhy label based in manchester.

this is a scratchy guitar noise of a record. far away drums start all slow and mellow while things then build up into a sonic youth styled rifferama before the relative calm returns. there is a feedback infused rock-n-roll pop song buried within these 3.5 minutes which becomes more apparent in the last chorus ridden section. as great as the a-side is, my love falls for the b-side 'this empire we've created' which has a superb jesus and mary chain intensity within the drum and guitar interplay. vocally though the song is more bitter/angry/twisted than the usual reid brothers declaration of cars and america, especially with noel vazquez's  vocals being mangled and spat out over the 2 minutes of velvet underground white noise.

excellent.
