the free association - sugarman single

this track originally appeared on the mix that david holmes released, by sixto rodriguez. the track obviously impressed the band so much (it is def a highlight amongst a stellar supporting cast on the mix), that they decided to have a go themselves.

the basic fa version has petra dominating the vocal duties. there is the same laidback/regretful blues feel to this as sixto's homage to products not available at your local chemist. a definite post big night out mellow vibe. seans presence is felt towards the end and brings the track to an excellent finish.

the remixes : maurice fulton. a well known nyc house dj of many years standing. he has taken the track and overhauled it as an electro disco epic. maintaining hardly any of the vibe/emotion/depth of the original its aimed for the floor movers, whereas gonzales has kept more of the original components but added a subtle twist of beats. not essential but fine nonetheless.

for the real deal, grab the full free ass version, and feel yourself drift off to a place of strange substances and rice crispies.
